Our first Rotomolding project!
Over the past year we have received a very large number of inquires regarding our Carbon Fiber fuel tank for the DesertX, following its race proven use in events such as NORRA 1000, Hellas Rally and others.
Due to the nature of the Carbon tank manufacturing method, we cannot reliably scale up the production to meet the overwhelming demand. Each CF tank is hand made, and we cannot meet the demand. For this reason we have decided to move forward with an alternative solution: A high performance 4mm thick XLPE tank with the same design and better OEM compatibility and performance.

Built through multiple prototype iterations and extensive testing, this 21L rally tank was engineered for maximum durability, fitment precision, and long-range performance without compromising rider ergonomics. Manufactured from 4mm black XLPE, the tank matches OEM fuel capacity while offering a slimmer riding feel through a redesigned side-volume layout that maintains comfortable standing riding position. Fully compatible with OEM and OEM-style aftermarket crash bars.
Designed for reliability, optimal fuel flow, and long-term adventure use, this tank represents a major step forward in lightweight high-capacity rally fuel systems.

EASIER ACCESS , SAME CAPACITY
Being able to achieve the full 21L capacity in this project was a significant step forward and required multiple design iterations to get right. We have removed part of the tank, which equals a volume equal to approx. 3 liters, so making things work and keeping the hydraulics and gravity feed to the pump was a tricky task!
MAIN SPECIFICATIONS
- Volume: 21 Liters or 5.5 gallons. Current Carbon Fiber tank is 19 lts or 5 gallons.
- Weight: Approx 2.5kg less that OEM tank (final confirmation pending)
- Strength: Much stronger than Carbon Fiber, 10 tons compressive strength.
- Material: 4mm XLPE in black made for durability and long-term reliability
- Color: Black (we chose black because clear tanks look 'yellow' over the years).
- Decals: the kit will include decals that will cover the sides of the tank. These will compliment the white and Rally tank. If you’d like to make a fully custom set, please let us know and I’ll forward your designer’s contact information.
- Compatibility: All models 2022-2025.
- Filtering system: Same dual filtering system used in our Carbon Fiber tank for easy cleanin and servicing.
- Aftermarket acc: Compatible will all crash bars that fit the OEM tank.
- Same internal architecture and usability developed through racing.
- Material and manufacturin method already tested extensively on our KTM EXC platforms and can withstand all the temperature and environmental conditions in the DesertX.
- Unique 5 years warranty on the tank.

DEVELOPMENT
We set out to create the ultimate DesertX tank—combining ergonomics, durability, and unmatched practicality.
The tank features a unique through-hole for effortless, single-handed air filter changes.
Remove the first stage, and it doubles as spacious storage, blending precision engineering with real-world versatility to redefine rally performance.
This tank is built from advanced composite materials and developed for racing use in controlled environments. While carefully designed and tested for maximum safety, the nature of the part means that in certain crashes the tank could be damaged. It is not TUV/MOT approved, so for inspections or use on public roads you’ll need to revert to the standard configuration.
By installing this kit you will make the OEM setup 2.5kg lighter which assist in fuel management and agility. Final weight confirmation pending.
During high pollution situations (desert, rain, dust etc.) you can close the air intake by using our provided cover. Even if you leave it open, it will not cause problems,
but as now more dust is directed to the air filter the system will be overloaded with dust. Our unique cover design allows cool air to come through whilst repelling dust and water.
This kit is subjected to the standard 2 year warranty. However, we trust the material and the manufacturer and we are happy to give a 5 years warranty to the tank itself.
Yes the tank is very thick XLPE material and the worse that will normally happen during an accident is that it gets scratched. For added protection you can install a set of crashbars or we’re currently working on a new design of carbon tank protectors for this tank that will be available soon as an added upgrade.
